Examples in Dravya

Now let us take a look at some examples, that illustrate sub-classification under dravya.

1. Drop

It is a substance made up of any viscous substance that has the component of water in it.  For example, drop of milk, drop of rain, etc.

2. Stars

Stars are one of the sources of light;
For example the sun is a source of light, and is a star as you all know.

3. Comets

Comets are also celestial bodies which are forms of earth, but the characteristic property is that, they also posses an element of air and water in them,  i.e. the gases and ice particles that comets are made of.

4. Watch, clock, etc

Under which category does watch appear ?   Time ? Certainly not.
It isn't a form of time. It only symbolises time and is primarily only a form of earth.  The time component shall be fitted in as an inherent relation which we shall see later in samavaaya.

5. Human body

Human body is made of earth.
